Its non-fretting design protects shaft sleeves and metal parts, while a balanced O‑ring with anti‑clog features keeps the seal clean and functional. The seal is spring-energized out of the fluid, maintaining a stable, smooth O‑ring operation. Available in sizes from 16 mm to 110 mm, the 491 handles pressures from full vacuum to 10 bar (150 psig), temperatures ranging from –55 °C to 300 °C, and speeds up to 20 m/s—making it a solid choice across general industrial applications.

 This high-performance, single rotary seal is capable of addressing a wide variety of applications. 
The Chesterton ​491 can be run against many different stationary seal rings for maximum flexibility in many applications. The non-fretting design will not destroy the shaft sleeve or any metal parts. The 491 has a balanced O-Ring design with anti-clog features, springs out of the fluid, dynamic O-Ring moves on a clean surface.
