Chesterton 477‑1 is a high-performance carbon fiber packing engineered with low-modulus filament yarn and specialized inorganic blocking agents to resist gas and liquid penetration effectively. It is treated with a molybdenum-based corrosion inhibitor that provides exceptional protection against chemical attack while offering strong, reliable sealing with reduced stem pitting and wear over extended operating periods.
Rated for extreme operating conditions—up to 1,050°F (566°C), 3,600 psi in stationary service, and a wide pH range of 0–13—477‑1 ensures low friction, fast break-in, and long service life. Its design allows for consistent performance in demanding applications, making it ideal for pumps, valves, and other critical rotating or reciprocating equipment in chemical, petrochemical, refinery, and general industrial environments.
